Welcome to www.rightsstories.com! This website provides researchers, readers and viewers an insight on the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) efforts to strengthen the human Rights Defenders (HRDs) and public authorities to protect and promote rights of marginalised communities in Bangladesh as well as to strengthen democratic governance, promote transparency and accountability of decision-making, policy implementation and delivery of justice as well as the empowerment of the stakeholders.
The empowerment of all stakeholders concerned, in particular members of vulnerable groups who are termed human rights defenders (HRD) under the project, as well as Civil Society Organizations and public authorities from local to national level, is at the centre of the project’s design. At local and regional level, it concentrates on conflict-prone regions with high rates of discrimination against vulnerable groups and malfunctioning cooperation mechanisms between CSOs and Local Authorities. The approaches of democratic dialogue and non-violent conflict transformation promoted and applied under this action focus on inclusion and empowerment of all stakeholders involved, e.g. by respectful and constructive exchange on needs and constraints, different perspectives on conflictive issues as well as scope for joint action. In addition, by promoting and applying the RTI Act the action enhances transparency and accountability of decision-making, policy implementation and delivery of justice. This website helps to give viewers an insight on the approaches adopted in promoting rights, good governance and empowerment of people.
